Yaroslavl News...?

Hello everyone!

Are there any websites that cover local Yaroslavl news and update regularly? I can't seem to find much after searching Google so I thought I'd approach the experts

It is ok that the sites are in Russian, I can use the web to translate them (my Russian is limited to about 4 words!)

I am the first foreigner here....? I am surprised. Do you receive many visitors from the UK?

I'm an Englishman who lives and works in London but has an interest in the places I've visited.

It's of more interest to me to read news that is focused on specific cities and not just items that are only considered to be worthy of international interest.

Mainstream international news here tends to focus on major stories, usually tragedies of some kind. Most news from Russia will generally be high level political stuff.

I hope that this explanation makes sense and hasn't been too boring!

Sorry, been busy for a few days so haven't had a chance to visit. London's good, I've not worked in central London for a few years so I'm finding my way around again - it hasn't changed much!

Well, what to ask....??

What's going on in Yaroslavl, what are the big stories? As I mentioned before, I visited last year but only for a couple of days so if I return later this year some recommendations of places to visit would be really useful. Best restaurants (I hope McDonalds doesn't get mentioned!!)?

In a bid to prove my innocence, feel free to ask me anything.....

That`s nice! Couple of days is really enough for our historical legacy. If you wanna see the whole town and improved with new sights you are welcome again.

Let`s see what we have here...A zoo was opened not so long ago (but it`s still not completed), and some public sport gyms.
We`re having lots of constructions and re-con-s all over - main avenues, bridges, Volga embankment, also a new planetarium, a huge church, a convention center and other stuff. All of them must be finished by Yaroslavl`s millennium.
We are also still having tough economic times here. City and regional budgets have problems - debts and deficit. Also they started the preparation for celebration too late and it`s a little devastating for citizens now (cause it`s in Russia you know). I wish city mayor and administration will be kicked out after 2010 cause it`s their fault anyway. But I also hope this celebration will be the greatest event for our town ever.

Well, what else positive can I say? I don`t know. Now it`s winter here, pretty cold huh.

As for restaurants I don`t know. Maybe someone else will answer here, or you can specify something about them. I`m not a big restaurant-goer when I`m in hometown. I think most of them in the central part should be fine. At least they will have a menu in English, and not in a Google translation ).
